Abusive teen relationships are common for a lot of teenagers. In the United States 33% of teenagers report that they have been in an abusive relationship.
An abuse relationship can be emotional or mental abuse, sexual abuse, or physical abuse. Dating abuse can also be forcing your boyfriend or girlfriend to have sex with you or stalking them.
Girls have a higher risk of suicide if they are in an abusive relationship and they can’t take it anymore and it becomes to much.
Can you image how hard is must be for girls to go through an abusive relationship? They aren’t even 20 years old and they have to experience that at 16 or 15 years old. It is too sad!
Abusive teen relationships can occur if you are in heterosexual, gay, or lesbian relationship. Teen relationship abuse affects all types of teens regardless of how much money their parents make, what grades they get in school, how they look or dress, their religion, or their race. It can happen to anyone.
Many teens don’t recognize that they are involved in an abusive relationship. Teens that experience violent relationships are more likely to have other problems like not doing good in school or using drugs and drinking alcohol which are bad for your health.
Girls who are in abusive relationships are also at a higher risk for pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and suicide attempts because of their abusive relationship.
