Spring, summer, fall, winter – everyone needs to eat. Most people have a favorite season. But why have a favorite when talking about food?
The second season of the year is spring. Spring is Easter time. Easter time is when people decorate eggs and write Easter poems. But, after all that work people will be hungry. So, they will most likely buy foods that represent Spring.
So, here is a spring food that comes to mind. This spring dessert is called a “Chick and Egg Cupcake” and it represents spring so why not make these for yourself or someone else?
Vanilla Cupcake Ingredients:
·2 ⅔ cups of sugar
·2 sticks of butter cut into at least 16 pieces per stick
·2 large eggs
·2 egg yolks
·⅔ cup of milk
·⅔ cup of water
·2 ½ pure vanilla extract
·2 ⅔ cups of all-purpose flour
·1 ⅓ cups of cake flour
·4 teaspoons of baking powder
·½ teaspoon of salt
Directions:
·Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
·Get two 12 cup cupcake tins with paper liners
·Put both tins on a baking sheet and set them aside.
·Put the butter and sugar into a food processor and mix until very creamy.
·Add the egg and the egg yolks to the batter one at a time. Pulse after each addition.
·Add the milk, water, and the vanilla extract. Blend for each addition.
·Whisk the all-purpose flour, cake flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
·Add the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. Pulse the ingredients. Then scrape the batter off the sides of the food processor. Process until the batter is smooth and pourable like pancake batter.
·Evenly pour the batter into the cupcake tins ¾ full.
·Bake the cupcakes for 18-25 minutes until the cupcakes are golden brown. To make sure all cupcakes are done get a knife or a toothpick and stick it in the center of the cupcake.
·If no batter comes out on the knife or toothpick then the cupcakes are done.
·Cool cupcakes for at least 15 minutes so when the time comes to frost the cupcakes it won’t slide off.
Frosting Ingredients:
·1 /4 cup whole milk
·2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
·10 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
·5 cups sugar
·1/2 cup marshmallow fluff
·fine salt
Directions:
·Whisk the milk and vanilla extract together in a small bowl.
·Slowly beat the butter and sugar, in another medium bowl, with an electric mixer until incorporated. Raise the speed to high and mix until light and fluffy, about 5 to 7 minutes.
·Occasionally turn the mixer off, and scrape the sides of the bowl down with a rubber spatula.
·Add the fluff and salt and reduce the speed to low.
·Add the milk and vanilla mixture, scrape the bowl down, and mix until fully incorporated.
·Raise the mixer to high and beat briefly until fluffy, about 1 to 2 minutes. Frost cupcake immediately.
Coconut Grass Ingredients:
·2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
·2 tablespoons of liquid green food coloring
·1 tablespoon of yellow liquid food coloring
Directions:
·Note: Food coloring can be messy and can stain your skin. To prevent this, wear latex gloves. You may find it easier to color the coconut in a large ziplock plastic bag, tossing it to color evenly.
·Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
·Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
·Place a mesh rack on top, if available.
·Put coconut in a shallow bowl. While tossing with a large spoon, add food coloring drop by drop until the desired color is reached.
·Add a few tablespoons water to moisten the mixture and help disperse the color evenly. If the color is too dark, add additional water, as needed, to dilute to the desired color.
·Carefully drain coconut in a strainer.
·Spread the coconut in an even layer on the rack after draining, or place directly on the lined baking sheet.
·Place in the oven until dry, about 10 to 15 minutes. Use immediately, or store in covered container for up to 3 days.
This song is a good song because it talks about how Jacob and Diggy like all types of girls – girls with different “flows” and girls with different looks.
In the song they say, “You may not see her in themagazines.” This quote stood out to me because a lot of girls focus on the “magazine picture perfectgirl” and these boys are saying you don’t have to look that way.
“You are perfect the way youare,” they say. The song also states that girls don’t have to act or look different for a guy, such as no makeup and no different personalities!
Ms. Cindy is a great teacher at UAI. She teaches EA to the 6th graders and makes it fun for us all! Learn more about her in the interview below!
Question: What do you like about your job?
Answer: I like helping students learn about academics as well as themselves.
Question: Is ELA harder to teach to girls or boys?
Answer: It’s hard to teach both genders because I’m always trying to find things for my students to read and write about that are interesting for each of them.
Question: Who is your hero in your real life and in the media (superstars, famous people)?
Answer: In reality my dad is my hero because he taught me about hard work. In the media I would say Wendy Williams because she has taught me about being myself.

After getting engaged and becoming a first time mother, Keyshia Cole released her third single off of her new album. After her debut song with Nicki Minaj (I Ain’t Thru) she has come back with another intriguing song, a song that can get stuck in your head after one listen. The video starts with Cole in a bathroom dancing and leads to her dancing on the beach. dancers.
The album from the movie Lemonade Mouth which aired Friday April 15th 2011 has songs that inspire people who think they can’t do it like Determinate and Breakthrough. These songs teach you that you can work through anything that is in your way.
The cast of the movie were known the “nobody’s” in school and they battled through that to become a spectacular band that eventually signs at Madison square garden. This movie is another big time kid hit with songs that had meaning!
This song is a great song for girls who think they can’t follow their dreams. This song tells girls to take risks and that when you give someone time to do what they want they will amaze you in the end.
In the songSmith says, “I’m on a mission, with no restrictions, don't second guess myself” and “I set theboundaries, the rules don't own me.” These quotes demonstrate the path that courageouswomen have paved before us and that we can do anything we put our minds to.
Is J. Lo back? Well, with her stellar season as an American Idol judge, I think she is.
With hersong On the Floor hitting #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, I think she has come back from Jenny On the Block and is looking great! What a strong, smart, and bold singer, mother, and woman!
This song is a great example of a positive relationship. This song basically describes what a woman should do if a man wants your number.
I think this is a great strong, smart and bold song because it shows that not even the girls from TLC takes nonsense frommen that just try to use women.
This music review is dedicated to Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Rest in peace.
Eyes, stare, eyes. As the world looks, I look back. All the people stare in despair towards me. Only towards me because I am the only one who is unusual. Unusual in what way? Only those people know. They always want me to calm down. Why? I’m natural. Including the trees, water, and all nature. You don’t tell anyone else but me. I won’t tell you. Does anything seem different when I tell you this? No. Shaking head. No. Plain “no” is all I get out of you. You defend that but you don’t defend me. Well, why don’t you? Did I do something to hurt you? To make you have a strong dislike on me? You always say, “Get over it!” Will you “Get over it” if I tell you to? Differences. Similarities. Differences. I guess I will just have to be the odd number because there are no more even numbers left for me.
Lemonade Mouth is the story of how six high school students created a band to be heard.
Stella Yamada (Hayley Kiyoko), Olivia White (Bridget Mendler), Wen Gifford (Adam Hicks), Mo Banjaree (Naomi Scott), and Charlie Delgado (Blake Micheal) all got detention for different reasons. They were asked to clean up the detention room, which was in the school’s basement along with all the schools clubs unless they had to do with sports. Then Charlie started to make a beat, which turned into a whole musical act.
As soon as Ms. Reznick (Tisha Campbell-Martin) heard what was going on she knew that they were destined to be an amazing band. She told them they should put a band together, but they all disagreed.
Then later Stella, who wasn’t like her family at all because her family was a pack of geniuses, decided she wanted to be in a band and asked everyone who she met in the detention room to be in the band with her.
They all agreed.
Olivia became the lead singer and song writer, Wen became the rapper and keyboard player, Stella became the lead guitarist, Charlie became the drummer, and Mo became the lead bassist. Their main goal was to win a competition called “Rising Star.”
Check out the movie for yourself to see if the band wins the competition and if you can rock out to their beats! This movie will have you clapping and dancing in your seat before you know it!
It’s because girls look at magazines and think that if they want to be like the beautiful women they see they need to be slim like them. Girls also think that they won’t get a boyfriend or girlfriend if they aren’t skinny enough. Also, girls are laughed at and made fun of for not being skinny enough or being overweight.
To be skinny girls can do a lot of harm to their bodies. They can starve themselves, which is also known as anorexia, and sometimes girls throw up the food they eat, which is known as bulimia. Anorexia and bulimia are both eating disorders that are very unhealthy for you and can cause a lot of harm to your body.
Some curvier women like Wendy Williams, Kristie Alley, and Oprah Winfrey are very successful women we should look up to instead of models and actresses that have unhealthy bodies.
I think that you shouldn’t worry about your weight. In Girl Space I learned that you shouldn’t let people’s opinions bring you down. It’s your body - not anyone else’s! Just remember that! Love yourself and love your body!
If you think you might have an eating disorder make sure you talk to a trusted adult, a UAI social worker, or any Girls Inc. or Carrera staff member to get help!

Boulder College – It’s as far away from home as I want it to be. Oh, by the way, my name is Lelia Richards and I was born in New York City. My family and I were very fortunate because my sisters and I all have very successful modeling careers.
But I have always had a passion for animals. I thought I would like to see more of them and my dad was also born in Colorado so I thought I might like to live and breathe the same air my dad once did.
Here in Colorado I still do a little modeling and I’m settling in with some horses down the street in the stable. But I have also realized I’m interested in acting and culinary arts.
I had just entered college and summer vacation was coming to a close. Mom was staying at my apartment until I was completely settled in. Before I got in to school mode, I decided to visit the stable and ride Scarlet through the trail. I tacked her up and brushed her. I gave her, her favorite oats and then let her out to run free for a minute with her friends Blue and Rusty.
As I rode her I realized we were both getting tired of the saddle so I jumped down and took it off. After the weight was lifted off her back I felt a surge of energy run through her. We picked up speed and soon everything was a blur, but I trusted her to get us through.
As we turned and I gained my sight back, I realized we had to make a huge jump over an unmovable boulder. I grabbed her mane and sailed over the huge challenge and just as we leapt over I heard clapping behind me. I turned around to find a guy about my age clapping.
“I was going to put that up there as a challenge but I guess that won’t shake you,” he said.
“I-I didn’t see it until I had to jump it,” I said in shock.
“Anyway why do you care? It’s just a rock.” I tried not to smile, but even I could tell it was a pretty big rock. “Well it was nice to meet you anyway, I’ve got to go.”
First day of college....
I rode my motorcycle through the route I had learned for a week now just to find some rebels had taken up the whole road. No wonder everybody passes by this route. Not only did they take over the whole road, but they were in a v-formation!
As I swerved around them, one guy yelled out, “Looks like we’ve got company, CIRCLE FORMATION!”
He tried to grab my hand but I wouldn’t give him the time of my day.
“Feisty, huh? Well, my name is Andrew.”
“My name is Lelia. Is there any way I can possibly help you?” I said harshly. I took off my helmet and shook my hair loose.
A sly look came across his face. “Lelia, you are really pretty,” he said.
Even though his face told one story his eyes blazed in amazement. We stood there for a minute until he grabbed me and kissed me.
My cinnamon face burned from blushing so hard. He looked into my eyes and said, “It’s nice to actually meet you.”
“Well you never know do you?” I said. “Today could be your lucky day.”
He let me go and I slipped my helmet back on and drove away. As I took off, I heard Andrew talking to his friends from the distance about what had just happened. I was about to go back, but the huge school to my side startled me. Sure I had seen it plenty of times, but now I would be spending the next four years in this one huge school.
All of a sudden I realized that right in front of me was the very same guy from the stables. That same moment he noticed me too.
“Hi,” he said. “By the way, the name’s, Jason.”
He leaned in for the touch and made it. He grasped me for a few minutes to let the kiss settle in. Two times in one day!
“Oh and I’m trying out again for the football team. I’m not that interested in being the quarterback, but I like playing the game,” he said.
I smiled. At least he wasn’t a snob, but then again I didn’t know him or Andrew but I liked them both.
After saying good-bye to Jason, I walked up the school steps and was immediately accepted by the rebels from the road who had made it to school. It wasn’t hard to find out that Sabrina from the “preps” and Kayla from the “geeks” would be my closest friends. We found it easy to separate into smaller groups other than the rebels, preps, and geeks. Like the popular group and the low lives, the plain Janes, the bullies, the cuties, the rich kids (which I must admit I am rich but not spoiled), the smarty pants, the “make up is the key” girls, and finally us. But we refused to go by a name or be called a club.
“So what you are saying is that today you kissed two guys and you like them both and they both like you?” asked Sabrina.
As she turned around to get a glimpse of Andrew, she caught him kissing someone else. He saw Sabrina’s glance and pushed the girl away.
I shook my head and smiled. Then just for the fun of it I said loud enough Andrew to hear, “Looks like he made the decision for me. Jason it is!
The girl he was kissing was Brianna and, boy did she smack him. I was so glad.
Finally winter break was just around the corner. The whole school was going to the Winter Wonderland Dance. Jason, Sabrina and Kayla, and I were on our way to the huge mall outside of town.
“Hey Lele, you know we can’t afford things out here! I probably couldn’t even get lip gloss let alone a beautiful white dress!” Kayla, shy as ever, just nodded in agreement.
“Chill, I’ve got everything under control! Why do think I’m here? I got your back. And no you don’t have to pay me back until I’m an old grandmother!”
Sabrina and Kayla laughed and then hugged me. Jason was just watching with a smile on his face. “Ok here we go.”
When we entered the mall the girls almost suffocated. I burst out laughing.
“Ok. Who wants to go first?”
Sabrina jumped in front of me and said, “I want a dress that is not a wedding dress, but it has to be beautiful and party worthy!”
We began our search. As we rummaged through the aisles we found two prefect dresses. I pushed Sabrina into the fitting room.
When she came out in the first dress I was shocked. It was a short halter dress with nice indigo sequences. The halter part was a see through fabric.
“Look in the mirror! You look so nice!” I said.
She frowned a little. “I think I want something, just a little bit longer!”
I smiled. “No worries you can still look at the other one.” So she went off to try the medium length dress. It was strapless with glittering sequins. It was perfect! We got some heels and she was done!
Kayla wanted something casual, but pretty. We insisted she wear a dress but she decided on a white strapless top and adorable long slacks.
“Ok that’s everyone!” I said. “Let’s get something to eat!”
“Hello did you forget yourself?” Sabrina blurted out.
I realized that I had left myself out!
We continued searching and I found a beautiful strapless dress that had black designs going down to my waist. The bottom of the dress was white with puffy layers on top of each other.
Jason was in awe. That was kind of the expression I wanted him to have. I wanted to stand out not by being flashy, but beautiful. I jumped in his arms and giggled. We were ready for the dance!
When we got to the dance people just stood and stared. Jason was wearing the black tux and Sabrina and Kayla were looking grand. I was so happy for them that I almost forgot my dress.
We slow danced the night away. Sabrina and Travir were dancing next to us. But Kayla was showing off her moves in the other room. She was so happy. Sabrina was ecstatic, Jason was beaming and I was content!
