The Hunger Games

By: Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is a thrilling three book series filled with adventure and romance along the way.

Katniss Everdeen is a 16-year-old girl who lives in a nation called Panem, built from the ruins of North America. It’s made up of 12 districts surrounding the place that controls it all, the Capitol, the cruelest part of Panem.

This is the place that came up with the idea, for plain entertainment, of having two people from each district (a boy and a girl) come together and fight to the death. The winner is the last one alive. It’s called “the hunger games.”

It’s really unexpected when Katniss’ little sister gets picked to be in the “hunger games.” And it’s extremely unexpected when Katniss steps up to take her place instead. Why would she do such a thing, bringing herself so close to her own death?

It’s all because of love – love that made her blind to what lies ahead. If she thought living in district 12 was tough, she has no idea how hard it will be to survive “the hunger games.”
