An Interview with Ms. Rosie

By: S.S.

If you want to learn more about Ms. Rosie, check out the interview I had with her below.

Question: What is the most important thing about Girls Inc.?
Answer: I like that it encourages girls to try new things.

Question: What do you love most about teaching homework help?

Answer:There is a moment when a student doesn’t know what they are doing and then they get it and I think that’s inspirational.

Question: Where did you go to college and what did you study?

Answer: I went to Earlham College in Indiana and I studied anthropology.

Question: What made you decide to work at Girls Inc. and why?

Answer: I love working with young women. In Anthropology one of the studies I worked on focused on the way the world affects who you are and that’s what Girls Inc. is all about.

Question: What are you thinking about doing after your job at Girl Inc. is over?

Answer: I’m thinking of moving to San Francisco and going to graduate school.

Question: What did you want to be before you came to Girls Inc. and how did that change?

Answer: When I was in high school I wanted to be a film maker, but then I realized that I wanted to do something more constructive so I decided on teaching.

Question: Do you have anybody in your life that has inspired you to be a teacher and if so who?

Answer: My grandparents were both public school teachers and inspired me greatly. Education has also been important to me.

Thank You for a great year Ms. Rosie! We will miss you next year!
