Summer is here! Everyone knows that when summer gets here it can get very hot. Everyone needs something to cool them down. That’s what makes a vanilla ice cream a great summer snack!
This recipe makes 8 servings.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
Materials:
- Medium saucepan
- Metal spoon
- Medium bowl
- Electric mixer
- Ice cream maker
Directions:
In a medium saucepan over low heat, stir together the sugar, milk, and eggs. Stir continuously, until mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a metal spoon, usually 10 to 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a medium bowl, whip cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Beat in vanilla and lemon juice, and whip until stiff peaks form.
- Fold whipped cream into cooled custard. Chill in refrigerator 8 hours or overnight.
- Stir chilled mixture to recombine and freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions.
