Vanilla Ice Cream

Summer is here! Everyone knows that when summer gets here it can get very hot. Everyone needs something to cool them down. That’s what makes a vanilla ice cream a great summer snack!
This recipe makes 8 servings.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
Materials:
  • Medium saucepan
  • Metal spoon
  • Medium bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Ice cream maker
Directions:
  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, stir together the sugar, milk, and eggs. Stir continuously, until mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a metal spoon, usually 10 to 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2.  In a medium bowl, whip cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  3.  Beat in vanilla and lemon juice, and whip until stiff peaks form. 
  4. Fold whipped cream into cooled custard. Chill in refrigerator 8 hours or overnight. 
  5. Stir chilled mixture to recombine and freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions.
